Do you believe that this large earthquake in Haiti is God's judgment because the country practices voodoo?
There are no innocent people, and if there is one thing Haiti is notorious for it is devil worship and witchcraft.
this is an act of God because Haiti is full of a bunch of Godless heathens who worship wacky things and practice voodoo and other witchcraft amongst the masses
job 27:8 For what hope has the Godless when he is cut off, when God takes away his life?
Job 11:20 But the wicked will be blinded. They will have no escape. Their only hope is death."
So for the children and babies: they are innocent. Their body is dead but GOD will not send them to hell.
God doesnt pick out the good and bad people to destroy. He destroys all:
Jeremiah 18:7-8 :At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;/ 8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
So in a nutshell …you’re saying they deserved it? If you’re saved then I’m pleased to be damned.

The bible says that in the absence of human praise to God, the very rocks will cry out. I take this to mean that in large areas of paganism and immorality, massive-scale, and often deadly weather patterns will emerge. just look at what happened to New Orleans.

Then what about the people in Thailand?
Appollonia | Jan 13, 2010
Damn!! i can’t believe you would think like this. So your saying God has punished Haitians ( who the majority are poor and impoverished ) because they don’t worship him and do voodoo.. If that’s the case why doesn’t God punish people in western society who are atheist (don’t believe in god) or those people who are wickins and do spells ..
dj-PIERRE | Jan 13, 2010
If that’s the case then how come nothing happened in Germany for the Holocaust?
or England for slaughter people, and taking over peoples country (s).
Or America for killing civilians, over in Afghanistan, and Iraq.

This is like a repeat of what happened to New Orleans with the Hurricane. Some people believed it was "God’s punishment" because of the voodoo that was largely practiced there. I am a Christian yet I do not believe God is wiping out complete cities because of their culture. If what you’re saying is true, that God in fact did let an Earthquake happen there because of their devil worshiping then there are still going to be a few innocent souls other than just children and babies. Not everyone down there is guilty.
We can’t just turn our back and say, "That’s what they deserve", even if it’s what you think.
God could also be testing your compassion because doesn’t he want us to love everyone?
Instead of getting people’s opinion on something you want to try and say was for a certain reason you could be helping out in the situation.
Miles' Mommy | Jan 13, 2010
Of course not. Haitians kept some of their African religions and there is nothing wrong with that.

No, I don’t. I believe it is God forewarning this world of what is about to come.(judgment day is right around the corner On may 21, 2011. this is the beginning of the end of this universe. No one has to believe me. That’s fine. I am just doing my duty as a servant of God. Learn more at …

No, but I think you’re a religious nut job. Does that answer your question?
Anais | Jan 13, 2010
What about all the children who died? Are you saying that they deserved it and are going to hell? What about the innocent adults? How can you say "there are no innocent people"?! Did you know all of them personally? Did you meet all of them and see them devil worshiping? I’m assuming you consider yourself Christian, well for your information most Haitians are Christians, many of them are very practicing, so according to your logic are they "not innocent"? I myself am not a Christian, but as a Muslim, I can’t see anybody who believes in God think like that.
It’s people like you that make religious people seem crazy!

are you serious? you really think God is going to sen something like that to a country that is already falling apart? i hate when people think natural disasters are god’s doing how do you know? did he tell you before he did it?

If anything when we see something like this we should be thankful for God’s grace, as we all deserve such a fate as this. Let us lend our help to those now in desperate need and extend to them the love that Christ showed us.

This is a common question Christian believers have when disasters come up. The question comes from a very poor understanding of the flow of God’s redemptive history. The questioner also clearly doesn’t understand the role of Old Testament Israel as a special and unique redemptive-historical nation. They also don’t understand that all other nations are something called "common grace." The questioner has not dealt with the implications of Luke 13:3-4 and John 9:3 within the New Testament epoch. I’ll try to explain.
OT Israel was special. It was a nation under covenant. The stipulations of the covenant were blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience (Deut. 27-28). If they obeyed, God would show them grace in the land (good crops, safety from invaders, etc.). If they disobeyed, God would bring hardship (like earthquakes, bad crops, locusts, etc.) on the land. Israel and Judah were so disobedient it was kicked out of the land (II Kings 17 and 25). What was significant about OT Israel and Judah is that there was a one-to-one correspondence between obedience and prosperity in the land or disobedience and curses in the land. In the event of a tragedy the OT prophet would then inerrantly come and proclaim the wickedness of the sins and show that tragedy and curse in the land are God’s judgment. This is the teaching of the Old Testament if you are an avid reader of the Old Testament.
The problem is that many Christians read their Bible (which is good) and then they assume that what is true of OT Israel is true of all nations. But other nations are not under the same unique constitution which Israel was under. The rain falls on the righteous and the wicked nations. In common grace nations (all non-Israelite nations) good things happen and bad things happen. God is in control of it all events in history. But their is no direct correspondence between the blessing of the people and the obedience. When the USA had a majority of Christian believers their were years of prosperity and years of famine. God works through natural means in common grace nations. Some prosper, some do poorly. Some nations with many Christians have it hard and some nations with few Christians prosper. There is no direct correlation between the two on a national scale like in OT Israel.
If the USA were under a national covenant as a theocracy like OT Israel (which could never happen because the cannon of Scripture is closed) then the prophet could point to the fall of the Stock Market and inerrantly proclaim which sins were the national curse’s antecedent. If Haiti were the unique redemptive-historical nation which God planned to use to bring about His eternal Son, Jesus Christ, then yes, the prophet could tell you what sins brought about this earthquake. But Haiti is not such a nation. Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson dragged Christ’s name through the mud when they blamed gay people and abortion for 911. Abortion and homosexuality are sins, but God doesn’t deal on a national scale like that. Those men mistook the uniqueness of Israel for the common grace aspects of all other nation by projecting OT Israel onto all other nations.
Of course God punishes unrepentant sin. I am not advocating some sort of liberalism. When unrepentant sinners die they go to hell. When justified believers die they go to be with the Lord. All the people who died in Haiti entered into eternity. Those who were in Christ are with Him and those who were not in Christ are in fire. But let us not look at tragedy and say such things.
To you Christians: You must understand that when you bring these things up you do a sad thing. You are like Job’s accusers, trying to tie Job’s tragedy to certain sins. Your name is either Eliphaz, Bildad, or Zophar. Jesus clearly shows that is not what we are to be doing (Luke 13:1-5 and John 9:3). A new age has dawned. We are not in the Old Testament any longer. Jesus said so. On this side of the cross it is your job as Christians to pray for the nations. Pray for grace. Be a Good Samaritan. The good Samaritan didn’t ask what the cause was for the man’s tragedy, he asked himself how he could help the man. Don’t be like the religious men who passed by and avoided the man because he was under judgment. As people in nations under common grace we are to see all tragedy’s as tragedy. We are to weep with those who weep. Send money if you can. Help them if you can. Pray for them, because you can.
